Flying against mother nature

How we traveled back home from Venezuela to Czech Republic

Many of my friends asked me the obvious question: How was your flight? How did you manage with Edie? And how did you manage with yourself? So for all of you my dear once I will answer you at once.

Whole trip can be described by 4 points:

  1. Waiting
  2. Bad administration
  3. Airport queueing
  4. Lost luggages

The true is that we did not choose the best time for travelling. Because there

were many news about vulcano eruptions and we were not exactly sure whethereverything will be fine.

But on the other hand when we called home and my dad told me that in the Czech Republic is beautiful shiny spring weather I became more ensured about our flight.

So whole story started by re-booking our flight by 5 days. Not bad we could enjoy more days in Venezuela with our family.

But we learned: If you are travelling with your family ALWAYS call in the day of your flight to the airport to ensure that your flight is going. Otherwise to be packing and unpacking whole family is nothing nice. Trust me!

We were just lucky that we realized that our previous flight was cancelled because we were just ensuring ourself about allowed luggage  weight and they told us that our flight was cancelled. So ENSURE YOURSELF FIRST!.

So when we finally after 5 days using just two shirts one side and the another, because who would like to unpack what you packed before 🙂 ended up in the airport. But some smart guy did not make re-booking for me and Edie only Carlos was allowed to travel back to Europe. So we spend about 1,5 just by looking some spare seats for 2 of us. Uf they managed! Luckily that we came 4 hours ahead to the departure time.

Unfortunatelly they could not tell us if we have connecting flight to Vienna so we have to picked our luggages again and check in Frankfurt. After 8 hours of flight we landed to Frankfurt. Sky was clear just it was COLD! We have to be waiting very long for our luggages and by chaos caused by volcano we  missed our flight from Frankfurt to Vienna by 20 min. GATES  CLOSED! Thank you guys. Please wait in the queue. For us it was about 4 am and after 3 hours of sleeping we started to be tired. But noting to do. Lufthansa offered us some drinks and snickers and let us wait another 1,5 in the queue to re-book our connecting flight to Vienna. In the end we could go with Austria airlines. So nice. So we just needed to wait another 4 hours. But great. Edie was obviously enjoying. Full of energy he was practicing his new walking skills. Especially in the airport halls, which are long, soft and without obstacles he was running and falling thousand times again ad again. I was just counting time when he can get tire. THERE WAS ANY. His battery Duracel were fully charged. So I try to play with him.

I have learned: If you want to teach your baby walk than go with him to the airport or travel somewhere. The hallways are the best drive-simulators.

We managed to board and flu only 1 hour to Vienna. Juchuuuu we landed and went to picked our luggages. And what surprise! Our luggages did not arrive, all 5 of them 🙂 I had to laugh! So we have waited another  hour in the queue for making lost report. And in the end we decided to wait another 2 hours for next flight because they should deliver our luggages in that flight. So when we met my dad, after he waited about 2,5 hours for us we were soooo happy. He had tears in his eyes being happy that he finally found us. We decided to wait to the another landing so we went to have some dinner. Edie was still running away from our table, so we were grabbing him on the way.

In the end after 3,5 hours we got our luggages and could have gone home. We traveled 1,5  hour from Vienna to Brno by car.

So if your think that you ever had long time in the airport, that you were fucked because your luggages got lost, that you missed your flight and you had to wait. Than do not worry. Once you will remember this time as curious funny story as I do now!

WE LOVE TRAVELLING WE DO! WE LOVE TRAVELLING WE DO! WE LOVE TRAVELLING WE DOOOOOO……..OUUUU TRAVELLING WE LOVE YOU!

PS: you know with smile and bit of patience everything can be managed 🙂
