Flying with baby – how infants deal with that

Hi dear parents,travellers

curiously I have finally some time to write about our flight. Finally we reached Venezuela and beautiful and very busy Caracas. And we with Edie survived quite nicely whole flight.
Just to let you know how strong is our little one and how much he actually enjoyed whole trip.

Our itinerary was following:

  • we woke up at 1:30 and started to travel to Vienna at 2 am. to be able to reach airport around 4.
  • We took a flight at 6:30 from Vienna to Franfurkt we had 4 hours break and than we continued to Caracas. Whole flight took about 10 hours but with Latino timing after landing they kept us in the plane another 45 minutes…….ufff what to do welcome in LA 🙂
  • Our family friend picked us up with 2 hours delay from the airport and we traveled to our home another 1 hour,

During whole flight Edie was really nice and happy baby. Unfortunately I did not order special seat for him so he had to sit on our lap, we were walking with him when needed, talking to people around, playing with another kids and feeding when needed. My biggest worry was if he will be ok with air pressure while taking off and landing and actually he was much better of than me. He was even smiling and playing with his hands. I was feeding him or I let him chew my breast to make him swallow and overcome the pressure. But he obviously did not care much about it.

What I can recommend and what I have learned:

  1. take more clothes for your baby and for yourself in case you need to change him and yourself.
  2. take food, drinks and toys, planty if possible, because flight can be long and you never knows what might happened during the flight
  3. call to the flyght provider enough ahead to ensure that you know all the conditions of flight. We could not take car cradle insight same as push chair, also I did not gain special seat with baby cradle for flight which would be quite comfortable to flight with. The baby cradle has to be ordered specially it is not assigned automatically with the seat.
  4. babies needs their parents, to play and do their ordinary things, so try to simulate their home as much as possible. Be calm and try to behave with least stress as possible. Persuade yourself before flight that everything will be ok and you will manage. Because calm mum means calm baby.
  5. I used to calm down a bit our hiperactive baby homoeopathy drops called Sedativ and they made Edie sleepy for about 2 hours what definitely helped us to rest a bit after early morning wake up.
  6. For coping with air pressure ensure that your baby drinks, chew or eat something because swallowing helps him to decrease pressure. Although I did not experience any problem with Edie even he had cold and running nose before we left our home.
  7. I also had jar food for Edie and it was very easy to feed him. I just asked flight attendance and they wormed his food up.
  8. Always read the instruction of the airlines before your flight but also call rather to the service help desk in the airport and ensure that all the information or web page are updated and you are ready for flight with your baby.
  9. I wish you good luck and hope that my fast notes will make your flight easier and will be helpful for you. If you have any other good hint then please leave me comment,.

How to travel with 7 months baby?

Travelling, flying and preparation

My dear friends. As you might know we are going to Venezuela soon. And if I say soon I mean it. There is only one week left and we will leave our “old continent”.

Fear-of-Flying-747-778392In my head started to appear many questions relating to the travelling with infant especially that active like Edie is. He is already jumping on his fourth, crawling backwards and sleeping only about 2 times 30 minutes per day. And with his hiper activity I am wondering how to survive 2 hours and 8 hours flight in the limited space such as aircraft has.

I have learned already there is in most of the long distance aeroplanes kind of little beds or cribs for babies, changing tables in the bathrooms and that also i can take all things needed for baby care on board with me.

The providers also recommend to take:

  • food for baby
  • drinks – non-sparkling
  • warm socks to keep their feet worm
  • blanket to protect them against cold air
  • more sets of clothes for baby and also mother – I can easily imagine drilled and thrown up shirt of mum.
  • lot of toys and favourite entertainers
  • pacifier if your baby uses him, in our case I will keep according to motto “breast is best” 🙂 because Edie hates dummy!
  • and we can not forget our potty, Edie got used to him and I realised that without him he in not making poo into his diaper so we have to take it on board also
  • I also packed already special homoeopathic syrup to keep him calmer (no chemistry only pure herbs called Sedative) and to keep his nose cleaner to balanced better air  pressure his Nasivin nose drops.
  • I will also take some little mattresses to let him crawl a little if possible
  • we can not forget our carrier also, because he used to falls asleep in it much easier than in our arms.

I believe that whole journey will be fine and we will manage. I will tell you more after we will land in Venezuela and I will pass my first flying experience with our darling.

If you have any suggestion how to cope better this situation I will be happy to learn more.

Hugs to all of you

7 month report

Huraiii, 7 monthary is here 😉

You will not believe me, I did not believe myself also, but when I looked into the calendar I realised that Edie reached his 7 month.

I will write just breafly today because as he grown up he is more and more demanding for attention, love and play.

So which improvements happened and what have changed and it is new:

  • He started to eat, little by little we started with vegetable. I think he is getting quite well, he has his lunch every day in more or less same time. He likes his new food given by spoon. His favourites is carrot with beat root and pumpkin Hokaido, because it is sweet. Kids love sweet so I try to find some vegetable witch is sweet and I do not have to put into his foot any sweeteners and also salt.
  • He improved with catching. He is able to catch nearly everything what is wound him. A situation became more alarming, because it is no problem for him to grasp plate from table, glass which I am drinking from or any object on the way. So our kitchen flower is nearly without leaves already, and little animals such as kittens and little dogs are without hair :). If we practise he is also able to catch a baal thrown against him.
  • Edie got used to animals. He loves dogs. He would love to play with them all day long. Although his senses are not that developed yet so he is restlessly pulling their hair, ears and his caresing style can be introduced as punching style. But our animals are lovely and patient so they hold for his fun. We try to teach him to be soft and tender with them so always when they lick his hand he start to laugh very much and he is grateful for their patiency.
  • He had improved also his vision, he is able to see himself in the mirror from far behind. We can be standing more than 3 metres far and he will find his picture in there. He also loves to observe moving leaves on the tree, grass on the ground in the park and everything what is moving.
  • He had improved also his moving skills. Now he is comfortably standing on his four. He is able to turn both sides and while I am holding him he started to dance “regeton” and “him hop”.
  • He is very loud. His voice is reaching high peach easily. If he wants something he is able to scream very well. We try to teach him not to scream like that is he wants something but he does not understand yet much. But at least we are not running after him immediately if he does that. Although he is able to tell us when he need on toilet by his specific shout, if he is hungry or sleepy.
  • Daily routine and Sleeping is another story. He got definately used to to go to bed around 8-9, after bathing at 7. I feed him before bathing. I wanted to give him time to burp, to pee and digest a bit his dinner before going to bed. He is still not fighting with sleeping. And everyday is different, depending how many activities he had lived during the day. If we were most of the day out and playing he is more tired and he does not cry before sleeping. If we had less active day he usually cry less than 10 min and than he falls asleep. He used to wake up around 5:30 and 6. He does not have weekends program so I have to wake up with him 🙂 to let dady sleep a bit longer.
  • His social skills are improved also. When he see somebody smiling at him he smiles back. He is very social person and love people around him. He hates to be alone. He started to recognise also strangers and home people. He likes women very much. In their arms he is happy and not crying in men arms it depends 🙂 He usually gets used to new people fast if they hold trying to be close with him.
  • He had his first virus illness. He got Exanthema subithum. He had 40 C fever and rush all over his body, not legs only little arms. But he lived that very well.
  • I am still breastfeeding, I feel that I have a bit less milk but still sufficient enough for him as I see. When I was with him at  a regular monthly paediatrician check he had 7,9 Kg and 67 cm.
  • Edie also received visit. His aunt Ebru with his uncle Dohan from Turkey where here. He also traveled with them and us to Prague. His first bigger trip. He has to get used to because soon he will travel to Venezuela.

I will add some videos and pictures also that you can see how lovely boy he is. Many people say that he is the cutes baby they have ever had. I am very proud mum and I hope that our love and patience will bring fruit in the future 🙂

Do you appreciate your family enough?

Family, husband, kids, life………

girl_thinkingI just had one very philosophical thought which I wanted to share and ask you other mothers around the world. Have you ever thought if you appreciate your family enough? I believe that you sometimes feel that things are going wrong, that your husband is not spending enough time with you, that you feel alone and your kid is just growing in front of your eyes and you have nobody to share with.

I just came from walk with my friend. She has twins and her husband is very much hardworker. He is working in another city as manager so he used to spend just few nights with her and their kids and over weekend they decided to built a house. So he is spending most of the time checking how the constructing goes. And in the end she feels very alone and she does not have time to share improvements of their babies. She does not have him close by to help her when she is stacked in her daily routine.
And than I was thinking whether sometimes we want that many things that we are forgeting the most important one and it is our life and our family. We do hundred and one things to fulfil our material needs and on the other hand we are not spending time with those for whom we are braking our backs all day long.
So please tell me and share with me how do you handle your time, how do you make your family and partner life nicer for each other.

Lot of hugs for all of you and your partners who are always worth to appreciate.

Exanthema Subitum (sudden rash)- aneb “šestá nemoc”

Rash, Exanthema, marks, zits

exantemaThere are plenty of rashes which our babies can get, either they are transmited through viruses or physically among the kids as bacteria’s. Edie was not lucky few days ago because he got Exanthema Subitum known also as šestá nemoc. He was having one of his happy days and all of the sudden he got very high fever in the end of the day. We thought with my husband that it is just reaction on our weekend trip. Because he was exposed to cold weather while walking in the nature. So we thought that he might have got cold. But then his fever went high, he had about 39,5 and I became worried. Totally weird think was that he behave more or less normal. His eyes were still shining and yeah he was a bit overstimulated but who would not be having nearly 40 C fever. So we gave him Nurofen for kids to calm down his fever. Whole process of increasing and decreasing of his fever was continuing within 2,5 day and as the sickness came it disappeared.
When I thought that he is already over, 2 days after he got a rash which appeared on his belly and back, little on front-head and his arms. This was already alarming for us, because it was spearing very fast and we took Edie to hospital. A doctor made medical check and she just smiled at us and said, oh it is just Exanthema Subitum. Do not worry at all, this rash will disappear in 2 days and he will be ok. It is not itchy and he does not feel anything harming.
So we went home, with calm feeling and even took Edie for a walk into park. He looked happy and smiling and in 2 days exanthema vanished and Edie was cured.

This sickness is funny, not harmful for kids, they will have it just once in their life…..thanks God 🙂

I found also some easy and nice explanations of this disease:

Momfluence and power of mothers

Mother’s networking

I have been searching for different stuff and than I realised how much time I spend while reading, educating myself about different topics, also talking with my friends and than posting all these information here in my blog. And then I realised that there are hundreds and thousands like I am and on the base of that there have been actually developed new networking community called Momfluence which uses the strength of mothers and their sharing power for releasing new ideas, spreading new products and specially awareness about different topics. This is such a great idea to create network like that and use the sharing power of all mothers who are involved.

I would never think how influential can be mother community but looking at myself I have found that mother as the head of family and many times even smaller or bigger communities plays great role in the society.

If you want just check more out on the momfluence web page.

When babies laugh you can hear the angel bells :)

Eide’s laugh

There is nothing more gorgeous and cheerful compare to your kid laugh. In the moment when you are sad or you do not have your moment it is enough to hear babie’s laugh and you will be immediately cured.

There is one truth. I would do first and last to make my son laugh, since I really love to hear him laughing. So you can see also in this video that I am braying like donkey, letting him pull my hair and I am eating his lovely “chamones” (femur).

Enjoy with me Edie’s laugh and share with me, whether it cheered you up same way as me when you are listening him.

What makes the relationship happy and successfull

Tolerance and love as key to the happy family life

I decided to write a bit about my today thought. I was walking with my husband Carlos and we were having one of our chats as we are used to since early beginning. And I realise how much I love our time which we spend together and how important is to have it actually. It prevents all the misunderstandings and bad feelings which we could have. Just simple talk about ordinary things, these hour of being just on our own as family walking through the park is actually crucial part of successful and happy relationship.

I have seen many broken relationship and in the end I found out that it was always matter of lack of communication. The major problems always appear because men and women think differently and we can not expect that the other side will be able to read our mind. Even we do know each other very well and our mutual emphathy is strong sometimes we are just blind and we can not see what is really happening.

That’s why I would love to call upon the all mothers and smart women “KEEP TALKING” but not about what did you buy and how is your headache today but about your feelings and dreams and “KEEP LISTENING”.

Simply share little moments because life is made from them and love and treasure your family.

Edie turned 6th month

half a year is heeeere

P1010857I can not believe that but Eide turned on Sunday 23.8.09 6th month. We have been celebrating with him during long trip in the caves in south part of Czech Republic and I believe that he enjoyed his trip fully.
But this short post should summarize what have happened during last month.

Confession time:

  • Edie had fallen 2 more times from the bed. Not only to me but also behind Carlos back………he is our strong guy really!
  • He went to doctor which needed to clean his tear eye channels, he had 3 medical helps and now his eyes are clean and beautiful like never before.
  • He reached 65 cm and 7 400g and he starts to be nicely heavy while I am carrying him in his carrier 🙂
  • since he turned his 6 month and he was fully breastfed so far he started with his vegetables (carrot seems to be nice to him) luckily 🙂
  • We tried to apply also new theory of no diaper so we started to train him to go on potty…….let see I am holding him and he is successfully getting used to…….less diapers and more happiness for our baby.
  • We started his sleeping routine much more sticker. I feed him at 7pm, then bath him and after he goes to bet. Although he is able to fall asleep easily after 8:30 pm he is still fighting with gases and used to wake up few time at night. Even he does not want to eat he just wants to be hugged and get rid of his pain.
  • He is starting to lift his bottom and instead of cowling front he is sliding on his belly backward, it is funny and a bit dangerous. He is moving in the direction which nobody would expect 🙂
  • He is grabbing into his hands everything what is around. And his left hand is a bit more skillful than his right hand. So maybe he will be left-handie person, let see.
  • He enjoys to be among the people and the most if somebody is talking to him, and keeps the eye contact. He is able to laugh very strongly and more often than before.
  • He is talking in his baby language. Something like euuu, hauuuu, ba, ba sometimes it sounds like real sentences. We have been laughting when he said something like “how are you”. But in his way. We are already betting in which language will be his first word whether in Czech, Spanish or English.

Now I am very excited what will come as next. I hope he will start to crawl more and maybe he will say some real word already. Lets see what the 7 month will bring.

Potty time “get rid of diaper in 5 month”

Potty time at 5 month age

Do you think that I am kidding? No, I would never be more serious. I just want to share with you how surprising can be discovery that kids can go on potty and they like it even in the age when they are not able to sit.

YES we started to apply new strategy of “anty-diaper movement or bezplenkáči” which says that every kid is not liking to be in their excrements and that they will let you know when they want to pee or poo. And actually that is true. I do remember when Edie was little that before he peed he was loudly crying and because we did not know what is going on we just opened his diaper and he used to peed on me and smiled. So since that time I believe that babies are able to say you when they want to go on toilet, we just have to be  patient and observe them a lot and listen what they are telling us.

Here is the proof that Edie is enjoying his new game and I did not put the picture with successful result but I think that you can believe me that he is able to finish his hard work 🙂

P1010579

So after this experience I have 100% persuaded that kids are able to learn much faster than we think and manytimes we are limitation for them not they for us!

So my advice to you is: Keep trying all the thing which you want to teach your kids, even it can look crazy in their age. If they are enjoying just keep doing all your best and later you will have easier job!
